FY2021 Benefit Choice Open Enrollment Period
May 1- June 1, 2020

The annual State Employee’s Group Insurance Program (SEGIP) Benefit Choice open enrollment period begins Friday, May 1, 2020.  You have until June 1, 2020, to make your changes and/or elections.  Changes made during this time become effective on July 1, 2020.

Benefit Choice is your annual opportunity to make changes to your SEGIP benefits including: 

  • Health, dental, optional life & AD&D coverage
  • Dependent coverage
  • Opt Out (full-time employees) of health and dental coverage (if proof of other coverage is provided)
  • Waive (part-time employees 50% - 99%) of health and dental
  • Enroll or re-enroll in Flexible Spending Account (FSA) (MCAP & DCAP)

All Benefit Choice changes and elections are now completed through MyBenefits Service Center.

No paper forms are required or accepted.

Benefit Choice Options Booklet

The FY2021 booklet provides the current information regarding changes for the new plan year (July 1 – June 30).  Please review the information provided in the booklet before making your elections or changes.

Employee Fairs

In late April, the Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS) mailed the FY21 Benefit Choice booklet to employees.  Due to the pandemic and shelter-in-place order, planned in-person fairs were canceled.

CMS on May 1 released the times and dates for the Benefit Choice Employee Virtual Fairs that will be held during the month of May. Pre-registration is not required, and the website includes instructions for participating.
