SURS Retirement Counseling

University employees eligible for retirement may contact the State Universities Retirement System (SURS) for an in-person retirement counseling appointment on campus. Counseling representatives from SURS will be on campus 4/11/2023 and 4/12/2023 for 45 minute in-person counseling sessions to answer questions and assist you in planning for retirement. Members who have met with a counselor or had retirement estimates within the last 12 months will not be eligible for appointments.

SURS has opened scheduling and are currently accepting appointments for both dates. Please visit the HR website announcements at https://hr.siu.edu/announcements/ to see the instructions for retirement eligibility requirements and instructions prior to scheduling an appointment. There are a limited number of sessions available. To schedule an appointment, please visit surs.org and click on Member login to gain access to your member webpage or call SURS at 800-275-7877.

For assistance with your projected vacation and sick leave balances, please have two projected retirement dates ready and contact Fringe Benefits at 453-6685 for monthly payroll, 453-6604 for semi-monthly payroll, or 453-6696 for bi-weekly payroll. This information is needed on the Retirement Estimate Request Form required by SURS for your appointment.

If you are unable to schedule an appointment with a SURS counselor while they are on campus, you may call SURS and schedule either an appointment via a virtual format (via Microsoft Teams), at the SURS office in Champaign, or by telephone.
