The Department of Central Management Services (CMS) will provide you with a free flu immunization up until November 15, 2020, if you are currently an active or retired employee, or a surviving spouse enrolled in a State-sponsored health plan. Dependent insurance can be billed. The Jackson County Health Department (JCHD) will administer the immunizations.

To allow for social distancing and to expedite your registration process, appointments are encouraged. Walk-ups are still welcome.

You will be required to present verification of employment (university ID/picture ID) AND a state health insurance card in order to receive the free immunization.  If you are a retiree or a survivor of a State employee, you will be required to provide your state health insurance card and one type of picture identification.  For Health Department billing purposes, you must provide either (1) last four digits of your social security number; (2) address; or (3) date of birth.  Retirees and survivors will be required to provide their red, white and blue Medicare card if you are enrolled in Part B coverage.

The JCHD can bill most private insurance plans. If you have a dependent(s) who would like to receive a flu vaccine, please bring a copy of their insurance card to the clinics.  To verify if your health insurance is accepted, please call 618-684-3143, x119.  Cash, check, or Illinois Medicaid is also accepted. (Credit and debit cards are accepted only at the health department location.)

Students, graduate assistants and teaching assistants may receive immunizations at the Student Health Center. Please contact their office directly to schedule an appointment.

While supplies last, additional SIU cloth masks will be available to employees at the clinics.
